In my opinion, Ksamil is really nice to visit for a day trip or maybe one or two nights, but that would probably be the maximum for me. I personally wouldn't stay there for a whole week because there isn't enough to do to keep you busy for that long.

If you're not really into partying, Ksamil might not be the place for you if you're looking for a longer stay. Of course, you don't have to party to enjoy Ksamil — I went there myself without partying and still enjoyed it.

Ksamil is very pretty and sits right along the coast. The sunsets are beautiful, and the water is obviously one of the main attractions. However, there isn't a huge amount of things to do, so I would personally recommend it more as a short stop rather than a full-week destination.

Ksamil is mostly known for its beaches and beautiful coastline, but there are also some really interesting places nearby that are worth adding to your trip.

01 — ANCIENT CITY

Visit the ancient city of Butrint!

If you're staying in Ksamil, one of the things I would definitely recommend doing is visiting Butrint. It's only a short drive from Ksamil, so it's an easy trip to add to your day.

Butrint is an ancient archaeological site with ruins dating back to the Greek and Roman periods. You can walk around the old city and discover the ancient theatre, ruins and old buildings while being surrounded by beautiful nature.

I personally think it's a great option if you want to do something different from just spending the day at the beach. Butrint is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the combination of the ruins, greenery and water makes it a really beautiful place to explore.

Getting to Butrint from Ksamil is actually really easy.

You can take the same public buses that come from Sarandë and continue on to Butrint. You’ll see the public bus stops along the main road in Ksamil, so you can simply hop on one of the buses heading in that direction. To get back, you just do the same thing and take the bus back toward Ksamil. It’s a very easy and convenient option if you don’t have a car.
